Mohamed Tom M.D.

Dr. Mohamed Tom is a neurologist specializing in the treatment of patients with complex epilepsy and seizure conditions, as well as other neurological disorders. He has over 19 years of experience in neurology, with a special focus on EEG and autoimmune epilepsy. Dr. Tom earned his medical degree in 2002 from the University of Juba, in South Sudan and completed a residency in 2014 at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He went on to complete a fellowship in neurophysiology and epilepsy at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He has presented and publicized his research into EEG monitoring for ICU patients and other topics related to neurology and epilepsy. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, and American Epilepsy Society.

From the Doctor:

I am an experienced general neurologist with additional fellowship training in epilepsy. My interests in addition to epilepsy include headaches, movement disorders, cognitive disorders, stroke, and inflammatory conditions of the nervous system.

Karina Mendez Vargas MD

Karina Mendez-Vargas, MD

Dr. Mendez-Vargas was born in Iowa City, Iowa and raised in San Juan Puerto Rico. She earned her medical degree from Universidad Central del Caribe in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. She completed her residency and fellowship training in University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus, School of Medicine for Neurology and Neuromuscular Medicine respectively.

Dr. Mendez-Vargas has been practicing neurology for the past five years.

She has an interest in up to date advances in her field, particularly for migraine headaches. During her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, being and instructor for barre classes and taking care of her daughters.
